Two major aviation companies recently announced increased investment, which will lead to job creation in Alabama and South Carolina.
Boeing Co., which currently has 2,700 employees in Alabama, plans to invest $70 million into its activities in the state, Alabama News Center reported. The company plans to expand operations at its two major facilities in Huntsville, which include the Boeing Research & Technology Center as well as a missile machinery facility, which will undergo expansion.
As part of the investment, Boeing plans to create an additional 400 jobs in the state by 2020.
"Boeing is investing in the future of Alabama as a center of innovation, continuing to bring highly skilled jobs and growth to the region," said Ken Tucker, director of State and Local Government Operations for Boeing in Alabama, according to the source.
Meanwhile, in South Carolina, Honeywell announced that it will invest upward of $10 million at its aerospace facility in Greer, Upstate Business Journal reported. The move will create a minimum of 30 jobs and will include expanding the center by 5,000 square feet. The project is set to be completed in 2019.
