Comcast recently announced that it will hire 600 new employees at its office in Miramar, Florida, the Sun Sentinel reported.
The new jobs will support and expand Comcast's customer service offerings, according to a statement from Vice President of Business Services for Comcast, Reginald Scales.
The Miramar center currently has 300 employees and is the base for Comcast's Spanish-language customer services. The new jobs will include technical support employees and customer representatives for small- and medium-sized businesses and will not be related to the Spanish customer services division, the source noted.
Comcast earlier announced that it will create 5,500 new jobs across the country.
Senior Vice President of Business Development for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, David Coddington, said that the expansion in Miramar "is another affirmation that the Southwest corner of Broward County is a great resource for talent," according to the Sun Sentinel.
Currently, Comcast has more than 30,000 employees in Florida at more than 300 locations, NBC Miami noted.
"The investments we are making and the jobs we are creating in Florida will have a positive impact on our customers," said Scales, according to the source.
