Glossier, an online beauty brand and retailer, is set to undergo a major expansion which will create 282 new jobs in New York City, according to a press release from Governor Andrew Cuomo.
The company, which currently has 61 employees, will grow its workforce as it moves to a new, 26,000-square-foot headquarters in One SoHo Square. All 61 positions will be retained as the new jobs are added.
The move comes as the brand hopes to expand its reach worldwide, open brick-and-mortar stores and grow its product line.
"The Series B fundraise marks the third time in three years that I've asked total strangers for money so I can build what a lot of people thought was a Crazy Idea," write Weiss in a post on Glossier-affiliated beauty blog Into the Gloss, according to Forbes. "Except this time around, the idea of a digitally native, community-driven beauty brand didn't seem so insane - and that's because so many of you have proven that it's not."
The $24 million Series B is one of the largest rounds raised by a female CEO in the last several years, the source noted. Glossier will receive $3 million in performance-based tax credit through the Excelsior Jobs Program of Empire State Development.
