Hormel-owned plant to create jobs in Kansas

Dold, a division of Hormel Foods, will create 350 new jobs in Wichita, Kansas, according to local station KFDI.

The company intends to double the current workforce at the food processing plant, with the new jobs covering a range of roles including administration and warehousing support. Hormel also wants to expand the current plant by 156,000 square feet through a $132 million investment.

The new jobs will be added over the next five years, the source noted.

Average salaries for the new positions are estimated to be around $62,000 per year, including benefits, according to statements made by city representatives, The Wichita Eagle reported.

"This is a big investment by a company that recognizes Wichita is a great place to grow," said Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell. "Now we have nearly 400 jobs coming that are good-paying jobs - food processing, manufacturing and administration jobs - because they know we have a terrific skilled labor workforce. It's an easy place for them to have success."

The source noted that the city had made other recent efforts to boost its economy and job opportunities, citing aviation company Faneuil's recent announcement that it would add 500 new jobs in Wichita.

The company intends to double current workforce at the food processing plant.
