Clinical researchers look to expand hiring in Florida and California

Medical software support company Zynx Health has announced plans to increase its hiring efforts in Southern California to keep up with demand in the clinical support field. Meanwhile, in Florida, local officials are praising Scripps Research Institute for helping Palm Beach County become a leader in the biotechnology industry.

Zynx Health said it plans to hire more than 40 people for a variety of positions including software engineers, product designers, sales managers and content developers. The company said demand for its clinical decision support (CDS) technology, used by nearly 2,000 hospitals in the U.S, has increased with the passage of the Affordable Care Act of 2010.

In Florida, the nonprofit Scripps Research Institute is being credited with creating hundreds of new jobs and helping to boost the local economy on the Treasure Coast.

The clinical research laboratory, located at Florida's Atlantic University's Jupiter Campus, has also helped to attract a number of biotech research and development companies.

According to the institute's latest annual report, Scripps has filed more than 100 patents since September 2010.

The region's biotech cluster currently employs approximately 40,000 people.
