Hiring has increased in the healthcare sector across North America, with more than 1,500 jobs being added by one company in Texas, and more being created in Canada by another.
Towers Watson, a professional services firm based in Richardson, Texas northeast of Dallas, is leasing another office, which will lead it to expand its services to hire 1,600 employees, according to The Dallas Morning News.
The expansion, part of the company's operation of America's largest private Medicare coverage exchange, will bring with it positions for full time, temporary advisers and support staffers.
"Richardson has clearly established itself as a leader in industries such as healthcare, insurance and technology, as evidenced by Towers Watson's creation of 1,600 new jobs here," the city's mayor Laura Maczka said in a statement.
Additionally, Canada's foremost home care provider, Bayshore Home Health, plans to hire 100 observational care providers at University Hospital and Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, after being awarded a three-year contract by the city's health sciences center.
Observational care providers oversee patient staff and environmental safety, minimizing disruption to patients while improving the quality of care they receive.
