According to one recent report, the health care industry is doing the most hiring in Sacramento, California, with more than 1,000 open positions from some major companies.
The Employment Development Department's latest online help-wanted report found that the top firms hiring were Sutter Health, with 671 positions, followed by 390 opportunities at Dignity Health and Kasier Permanente with 249 slots open in the Sacramento area. The Sacramento Bee reports that for many years, the industry has led the when when it comes to giving people the chance to get employed. Other leading sectors included computer systems analyst, with 835 jobs, retail sales staffing, hiring 583 new personnel and customer service representatives with 548 jobs.
In the month of January, the department found there had been 182,000 jobs added to payroll in the state, higher than the total recorded in February. According to those with knowledge of employment, the growth is encouraging but it needs to be happening at a more rapid pace.
"The overall numbers paint a picture of a perfectly reasonable pace of growth," said Christopher Thornberg, founding partner of Beacon Economics in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. "People want more than that, but unfortunately, what we're seeing is normal growth."
