Baker’s credentials in the manufacturing sector include a wealth of international experience from his years of working in both Mexico and China. As a result, he has developed a global strategic vision while working primarily in metal forming and machining, both inside and outside of the automotive industry, and has created strong teams to carry out that vision.
“Manufacturers are often in the position of balancing trade-offs – revenue growth and cost containment; customization and standardization; and competition and collaboration,” observes Baker. “The metals industry, for example, is moving towards consolidation to reduce costs and foster growth, while dealing with issues such as the cost of raw materials and rising demand from emerging markets.”
Before opening his search and recruitment business, Baker served as site director for Ride Control, LLC, the North American parent company of Gabriel® Shock Absorber Brand in Queretaro, Mexico. He was responsible for the safety, quality, delivery and cost of three manufacturing plants and a distribution center for local markets. Prior to that, he was a consultant to Maine Industrial Tire in Xingtai City, Hebei, China.
Baker uses his extensive network of industry contacts to find and place the vice presidents, directors, plant managers and engineers his clients need to remain competitive. He says, “Strategies have to be formulated, decisions made and plans implemented in the increasingly complex environment of the manufacturing world.”
